What’s on?: River Festival 2014
The newly crafted cultural event for Bangkok, River Festival 2014, will be held during 1st to 6th November 2014 along the Chao Phraya River. Visitors can enjoy and learn more about the rich heritage and legacy of Bangkok’s River Culture. The festival will be held on several attractions from the Rama VIII Bridge to Asiatique the Riverfront.
There will be 2 routes for the river tour: Route 1 will take 20 minutes from Yod Piman Pier to Wat Prayoon Pier and Route 2 will take 25 minutes from Asiatique Pier to Yod Piman Pier. Provided shuttle service is free throughout the event.
Highlight venues include:
- Wat Kalayanamitr Varamahavihara;
- Wat Prayurawongsawas Worawihan (Wat Prayoon);
- Wat Pho, The Temple of the Reclining Buddha;
- Wat Arun, The Temple of Dawn;
- Yodpiman Flower Market;
- Asiatique the Riverfront.
You can expect fun activities from cultural performances, light and sound from Loi Krathong float. The highlight event is a rare night-time visit to temples like Wat Pho (The Temple of the Reclining Buddha) and Wat Arun (The Temple of Dawn).
The River Festival 2014 will be held in complement to the major event of Loi Krathong Festival which normally last only one day. This event is hoped to be a new annual major tourism event for Thailand.
