Calypso Cabaret in Bangkok is one of the most popular cabaret shows in Bangkok. Established in 1988, it features a spacious theater with 480 seats and 70 performers with many gorgeus women. Well, actually all of them were born men, as this is a lady boy show.

Calypso used to be located in Asia Hotel but it recently relocated to Asiatique The Riverfront, an open-air shopping mall located next to the river. It is not difficult to reach connecting from BTS Saphan Taksin to the free shuttle boat.

What to see at Calypso Cabaret

Calypso Cabaret provides two different showtimes, at 20:15 and 21:45 every day. The price is 900 THB on the official website, but you might be able to get a better deal through an agency. Your ticket includes a free drink from a limited selection of items like: beer, coke, gin tonic or water. Additional drinks are on you, but they are reasonably priced.

You can also book a Traditional Thai dinner on its own restaurant.

The show starts with a “Lady’s and gentlemen, welcome to Calypso”. The presenters lead the audience through the show, introducing the performers. The show goes on for about 1:15 hour, with many different styles and songs.

Some of the acts are more classic-cabaret style, while others are placed strategically to please guests from specific countries like Japanese and Chinese. In between, there is always time for humor with a comic performance.

Once the show is done, you have a chance to meet the performers and take some photos with them. They will gladly accept your tips too.

In any case, you can also take photos during the performances. Just make sure your camera is able to handle the big contrasts in light and don’t block the view from the audience behind you.
