Floating Krathong Festival will return on 6 November 2014. This year the Tourism Authority of Thailand has already announced official venues for Loi Krathong Festival in 7 venues across Thailand: Bangkok, Sukhothai, Chiang Mai, Tak, Ayutthaya, Samut Songkram and Ratchaburi.
Loi Krathong
Bangkok – The festival is set to start from 4th to 6th November. The celebration will take place along Chao Phraya River, but the major venue will be from Krungthep Bridge to Krung Thon Bridge.
Sukhothai – Loi Krathong and Candle Festival will be held from 2nd to 6th November at Sukhothai Historical Park. Highlights are including Krathong floating ceremony, firework displays, Krathong-making contest, light and sound presentation, cultural performances and the Royal Krathong procession.
Chiang Mai – The famous Yi Peng (floating lantern) Chiang Mai Festival will take place during 5th to 7th November at Chiang Mai Municipal Office, Tha Pae Gate and several temples. Main activities are sacred Buddhist chanting ceremony, the 23rd Yi Peng Lantern Procession, the candle lighting ceremony, Yi Peng boat races and several contests and competitions.
Tak – The annual Royal Trophy Loi Krathong Sai Floating 1000 Lanterns 2014 will start from 2nd to 6th November on the bank of the Ping River in Mueang district. The highlight is the competition of floating a train of 1,000 floating Krathong made from coconut shells for a royal trophy.
Ayutthaya – The province will celebrate Loi Krathong Festival and the historical city of Ayutthaya on 6th November at the Chankasem National Museum in front of the Queen Suriyothai Monument and at Thung Huntra Memorial Hall of Allegiance. Highlights include illuminating lantern decorations, cultural performances and folk music singing contest.
Samut Songkram – Loi Krathong Kap Kluai Mae Klong will take place from 6th to 8th November at the King Rama II Memorial Park in Amphawa district. Highlights include the ceremony and the display of floating Krathong made of banana trunk and folk performances.
Ratchaburi – The Amazing Loi Krathong Traditions of 8 Ethic Groups will take place on 6th November at Rak Pracha Pattana Dam with folk performances and the Krathong floating ceremony.

Loi Krathong Festival is held across the Kingdom of Thailand, some part of neigbouring countries of Laos and Myanmar (Shan State) also celebrate Loi Krathong Festival. However, Thailand still offers the biggest and grandest Loi Kratong celebration.
