5 animal parks and zoos in Bangkok

Almost everyone loves to see animals, and Bangkok surely brings you a lot of opportunities to do so. Do you want to see sharks, dolphins, tigers, crocodile and, of course, elephants. We’ve got you covered.

Whatever is your style and your animal of preference, you will find a place that suits your needs. From traditional zoos like Dusit Zoo to safaris, aquariums and the more exotic crocodile farm.

1. Dusit Zoo

Dusit Zoo was the first zoo to open in Thailand, with a history that goes back more than 60 years. It features animals like the hippopotamus, clouded leopard, numerous marsupials, monkeys, birds, rabbits, reptiles…

The entry fee is 150 THB for adults and 70 THB for children. You can take a paddle boat on the lake, explore the huge area in the tram and feed some animals, like the hippopotamus.

2. Snake farm

Queen Saovabha Snake farm is a small zoo dedicated entirely to snakes. It belongs to Thai Red Cross and it will let you see some of the most dangerous snakes in South East Asia.

It features two different shows: snake handling and venom extraction, which are entertaining and educative. Also, you can reach by BTS and a little walking.

3. Sea Life Ocean World

An aquarium… inside a shopping mall? Yes

What if we told you that you don’t need to book a tour to see some animals and even swim with sharks? All you need to do is head to Siam Paragon, one of the most famous shopping malls in Bangkok.

There are many things to see here. From a giant pacific octopus to sharks, coral, clownfish, seahorses, jellyfishes, sea stars and more. Not a big fan of fishes? You can also catch penguins and otters.

The ticket price is 890 THB for adults and 710 THB for children. However, that entitles you only the entrance. For activities like diving with the sharks, you would need to pay an extra 5300 THB. For cheaper activities, the Ocean feeding boat is only 180 THB per person.

4. Safari World

Safari World is a safari, a zoo, a marine park, a theme park… all in one. It has almost every kind of animal, separated in different areas and attractions like Bird Show, Jungle Cruise, Sea Lion Show, Orangutan Boxing Show, Dolphin Show…

This gigantic zoo will require a lot of your time and strength to see it all in a day, especially if you don’t want to miss any of the shows. For the safari, you can use your own car or the bus from the park.

The ticket price starts at 400 THB, but it varies if bought in a tour with transfer and entrance to both the safari and the park, meals, etc.

5. Crocodile farm

The crocodile farm is located in Samut Prakan. Although crocodiles are the big thing here, there are many other animals to see, like elephants, tigers, bears, chimpanzees, hippopotamus. There is even a dinosaur museum with models and skeletons.

Worth watching are the world famous crocodile shows but don’t forget to check the elephant show as well. Another recommended activity is to feed the crocodiles. Yes, you read that right.
